Zelenskyy Describes Relationship with Trump as “Constructive”

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is not intimidated by US President Donald Trump, characterizing their interaction as “constructive.”

In an interview with a news agency, following fresh Russian assaults that left large parts of Ukraine without electricity, Zelenskyy dismissed suggestions that his October meeting with Trump in Washington was strained.

He insisted: “He didn’t throw anything. I am sure.”

The president added that their discussions were “normal, businesslike, and constructive,” concentrating on Ukraine’s defense requirements and strategies to undermine Moscow’s capabilities.

“Everyone in the world is afraid of Trump. That’s the truth,” Zelenskyy acknowledged. When asked if that included him, he responded: “No … we are not enemies with America. We are friends. So why should we be afraid?”

Zelenskyy highlighted his respect for the democratic decision of the American people, describing the US as “our strategic partner for many years, perhaps even decades and centuries.”

The Ukrainian leader also praised King Charles for his discreet yet significant influence in strengthening ties between Kyiv and Washington.

Zelenskyy noted that Trump “respected” the British monarch and regarded him as “very important.” He added: “His Majesty is very supportive of our people.”

Regarding defense procurement, Zelenskyy confirmed that Kyiv intends to acquire 27 Patriot missile systems from US defense manufacturers and called on European allies to provide their own systems in the interim.

Commenting on Western military support, he remarked, “It’s never enough. It’s enough when the war ends.”
