Trump Says US Combat Operations Continue at Full Force
In a video message posted on social media, Trump said: “Combat operations continue at this time, in full force, and they will continue until all of our objectives are achieved. We have very strong objectives,” though he did not detail what those objectives entail.
He acknowledged the human cost of the campaign, saying of potential losses: “Sadly there will likely be more before it ends,” adding, “that's the way it is.”
Trump also reiterated his appeal to members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, urging them to “lay down their arms” in exchange for “full immunity.”
The remarks came as Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi responded in a separate interview, asserting that no foreign leader has the authority to dictate Tehran’s actions. He said Iran retains the right to defend itself and maintained that its forces “are capable enough to defend our country.”
The United States and Israel initiated large-scale airstrikes on Iran on Saturday morning, triggering retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Tehran against Israeli territory and US military installations in the Gulf region.
Earlier in the day, Trump indicated in another interview that 48 senior Iranian officials had been killed during the strikes. Iran later confirmed that its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was among those killed in the US-Israeli air campaign.
