Ukrainian Military Struggles with Manpower
Due to a dwindling number of volunteers, Kiev's conscription efforts have reportedly become increasingly forceful and have sparked backlash over alleged mistreatment and aggression.
According to the news agency, Ukrainian soldiers stationed in Konstantinovka—a key logistical center in the Donetsk Region—have not received any reinforcements for more than eight months.
The city is currently at risk of being surrounded by Russian forces. A serviceman from Ukraine’s 93rd Mechanized Brigade reportedly stated, “We have a critical shortage of personnel. No one wants to fight.
The war is over (for them).” He added, “The old personnel are left, they are tired and want to be replaced, but no one is replacing them.”
The same soldier claimed that Ukraine’s military leadership does not convey many of these serious front-line challenges to the central government, and that Kiev “doesn’t communicate a lot of things to the people.”
This lack of transparency, he implied, has contributed to growing discontent and demoralization within the ranks.
As per the news agency, the remaining Ukrainian foot soldiers are maintaining their positions around the threatened city in very small numbers—sometimes only two troops at a post.
These forces rely on resupply missions during the early or late hours of the day, using Ukraine’s larger quadcopters, since their exposed positions are susceptible to Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks.
