Philippines Removes Ban on Australian Poultry Imports
The ban was initially enforced in June 2024 after outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza were reported in Australia.
In a press release, the DA stated that the decision to lift the import ban followed confirmations from Australian agricultural authorities and the World Organization for Animal Health that all known cases of bird flu had been addressed. No new infections have been reported since June 13, 2025.
After conducting a comprehensive risk evaluation, the DA concluded that “the risk of bird flu contamination via Australian poultry imports is negligible.”
The department confirmed that imports of the previously restricted goods will now resume, provided they comply with all current DA regulations and biosecurity protocols.
