Russia Says It Shot Down 141 Ukrainian Drones in One Day

(MENAFN) In a sharp escalation of aerial activity, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on Monday that its air defense systems had shot down 141 Ukrainian drones in the span of just 24 hours. The ministry also reported intercepting four guided aerial bombs and two HIMARS projectiles, referring to the U.S.-manufactured High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.

The ministry stated that Russian defense forces responded to the spike in drone and missile attacks with what it called well-coordinated and effective actions across several fronts.

While Russia reported a high volume of intercepted threats, Ukraine’s military offered a competing narrative. The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia launched 140 drones and four Iskander-M ballistic missiles overnight, targeting various locations across the country. Ukrainian air defense systems reportedly succeeded in neutralizing 88 of the drones, but other projectiles managed to hit 25 sites across six regions.
