Greek far-right party faces investigation over forged signatures

(MENAFN) Greek authorities are investigating the far-right Voice of Reason party for allegedly forging signatures in its formation declaration, Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis told parliament. The case, opened in January, is under review by a prosecutor, following a complaint about possible forgery.

Authorities are verifying the authenticity of signatures submitted with the party’s founding documents, which were forwarded by the Supreme Court to the Interior Ministry.

Founded in 2023 by Afroditi Latinopoulou, a former New Democracy candidate, lawyer, and ex-tennis player, the ultranationalist party advocates strict immigration controls, deportation of undocumented migrants, opposition to “woke” culture and same-sex marriage, and harsher penalties for serious crimes. Voice of Reason won 0.43% of the vote in Greece’s 2023 national elections and 3.2% in the 2024 European Parliament elections, with polls now placing its support around 8%.
