Blaze Ravages Southwestern Japan

(MENAFN) A significant fire erupted in a community in southwestern Japan, destroying more than 170 buildings, local media reported on Wednesday.

The flames ignited late on Tuesday and rapidly spread across a densely populated residential district in Oita city, according to a news agency.

Residents were compelled to flee their homes, with authorities facilitating the evacuation of over 170 individuals, while one person remains unaccounted for.

Firefighting teams are continuing their efforts to control and extinguish the ongoing blaze.
